Who controls the data?

The operator of the Truth Hunter project is the data controller. Contact: molnar.tass@gmail.com, Discord: saintdogz.

What we process

For accounts: email address, password hash, and account timestamps. For investigations: claim text, source snapshots, evidence assessments, provider audit data, and feedback. Abuse protection temporarily stores pseudonymous request identifiers. Uploaded images are discarded after OCR.

Why we process it

We process data to provide the requested service, manage accounts, protect the service, diagnose failures, and improve reliability. The legal bases are performance of the service contract, our legitimate interest in secure operation, and consent where required.

Processors and international transfers

The service may use PostgreSQL hosting, Resend email delivery, Cloudflare Turnstile, search services, configured AI providers, and Discord for operational notifications. A Discord notification may contain a shortened, automatically sanitized claim excerpt, short investigation identifier, status, and result metadata; account data, IP addresses, and session identifiers are not sent. Claims and necessary source text may reach providers outside the EU under their applicable safeguards and terms. Passwords and application secrets are not sent to them.

Retention and public sharing

Account and investigation data are retained until account deletion or a valid deletion request. Security-limit records are tied to short operational windows. Investigations are private by default; only the user can publish one and can make it private again.

Your rights

You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, and—where applicable—portability. An account and its investigations can be deleted from the account page. You may also complain to Hungary’s National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH).
